Royal Dornoch Gondola Company Issues Centennial Commemorative Crypto Coin

DORNOCH, SUTHERLAND — The Royal Dornoch Gondola Company is pleased to announce the issuance of its first official company scrip in seventy-nine years, commemorating the approaching centenary of the company's founding by Royal Charter in 1923.

The scrip, designated RDGC and issued under the full name Royal Dornoch Gondola Coin, takes the form of a digital token on the Solana network, the modern instrument deemed most consistent with the Company's longstanding policy of cautious technological adoption. The issuance was approved by the Board at its quarterly meeting at the Construction Office on Golf Road and recorded in the Company's ledger on the 12th of May, 2026.

A total of one billion (1,000,000,000) units of RDGC have been struck, the Board having determined this figure to represent "a sufficiency for present and reasonably foreseeable commemorative purposes." No further units shall be issued. The Company's mint authority will be permanently revoked upon completion of the initial subscription period, in accordance with Company bylaws and the wishes of the Charter Trustees.

A Note on Purpose

The Board wishes to be perfectly clear, as it has been in all matters since 1923, regarding the nature and purpose of this issuance.

RDGC is commemorative scrip. It is not an investment, nor a security, nor a claim against the assets of the Company. It conveys no entitlement to gondola passage, preferred seating, dividend, or annuity. It carries no intrinsic value beyond the regard in which it is held by its bearer.

It is, in the tradition of the great Scottish railway and shipping companies whose conventions the Company has long admired, a token of association — a means by which friends, members, and well-wishers of the Royal Dornoch Gondola Company may signify their support for the Company's continued existence and its eventual, inevitable operations.

Acquisition and Bearer Rights

RDGC may be acquired through the Raydium decentralised exchange on the Solana network. Detailed instructions for acquisition by those unfamiliar with the procedures have been prepared and are available from the Company's website at rdgc.co.uk.

Holders of RDGC shall be entered into the Company's Roll of Bearers and shall, upon presentation of suitable proof of holding, be entitled to such courtesies as the Company is from time to time pleased to extend, including but not limited to honorary mentions in Company correspondence, priority booking on the long-anticipated inaugural service, and the right to be addressed as "Charter Bearer" in formal Company communication.

The Company notes that historical precedent for such bearer privileges may be found in the courtesies extended by the North British Railway to its founding shareholders, which the present Board considers a model of corporate continuity worthy of emulation.

Historical Context

The issuance of RDGC marks the first occasion on which the Company has offered scrip to the public since the abortive 1947 "Postwar Optimism Subscription," which was withdrawn following the Treasury's queries regarding the precise present operational status of the gondola — a matter which the Board, then as now, considers settled by the unbroken continuity of its corporate registry, the regular convening of its Annual General Meeting at the 19th hole of Royal Dornoch Golf Club, and the continued residence of its Honorary Conductor at a fixed address in the burgh.

Earlier issuances, including the celebrated 1925 "Mountainless Bond" and the 1931 "Subscription for the Relief of the Engineering Office," remain matters of considerable interest to numismatists and a small but dedicated society of Company historians.

A Word from the Chairman

Speaking from the Construction Office, the Chairman of the Board observed:

"The Company has, since its founding, faced the principal challenge of operating a gondola service in a region notably deficient in the vertical relief such a service traditionally requires. We have met this challenge with the patience, deliberation, and quiet confidence that have been the hallmarks of this firm for one hundred and three years.

The issuance of RDGC reflects the same spirit. We do not ask our bearers to expect a gondola tomorrow, or next year, or indeed in any particular year. We ask only that they hold their scrip with the dignity befitting an association with one of the most enduring institutions in the Scottish Highlands.

The gondola, when it commences operation, shall do so on its own schedule. Until then, we carry on."

The Royal Dornoch Gondola Company was incorporated by Royal Charter granted by His Majesty King George V in 1923 for the purposes of constructing and operating an aerial gondola service in the burgh of Dornoch, Sutherland. The Company maintains its registered office at the Construction Office, Golf Road, Dornoch. Enquiries may be directed to the Company Secretary.

RDGC is a commemorative digital token. It is not a financial instrument, a security, or an investment product. Bearers should be aware that the value of digital tokens may fluctuate and that no representation is made by the Company as to future value. Bearers should not acquire RDGC with funds they cannot afford to part with entirely.
